Yeeeeeaah! Amazing Race is back and as good as ever! It always makes me bite my nails, even when nothing is happening. I think it's the music. So intense.
There's a lot of likable teams on this season. All my favs so far came in first! Yeah me! I really know how to pick 'em.
SPOILER ALERT:
Margie & Luke (pictured left) the mother and son team came in first! Here's the interesting part about their team, Luke is deaf! He doesn't read lips, and he can't talk. Mom interprets everything for him. When they crossed the finish line first, I got all misty eyed. Random, but am I the only one who thinks deaf people are hot? I think I have some sort of hearing impairment fetish... but I digress.
I also liked the Asian brother and sister team Tammy & Victor. They are both Harvard educated lawyers for gosh sake!
Oh, and did I tell you about the midgets??? Mark & Michael are brothers who get paid to be stunt doubles for children! They're both 4'9" but not short on personality. Zing!
There's also Amanda & Kris (pictured right), the smoking hot couple who are actually nice to each other.

The countriest bumpkins you ever did see Linda & Steve.
The ravishing redheads Cara and Jaime are NFL cheerleaders.
LaKisha & Jennifer the token black girls who flew under the radar in the first episode.
Christie & Jodie, a.k.a. the blonds. They're two aging fight attendants who aren't that nice. I hope they get more interesting.
Jennifer & Preston the yellers were the first to go. Kind of sad to see them go on episode one. Mostly because I like a little drama.
Finally, one of the most interesting couples is the gay couple who aren't an actual couple, but father and son!!! Mel & Mike (pictured left) are both celebrities in their own rights.
Mel White is a well-known author and preacher and the founder of Soulforce. In fact he is the author of one of my favorite non-fiction books Strangers at the Gate. It's about his journey of coming out of the closet in the world of evangelical fundamentalism. Deep stuff.
Mike White the son is ALSO gay! He's a screenwriter. He worked on the films Nacho Libre and School of Rock.
Seems like a fun cast of characters. Am I right? I'm already hooked.
