Love Heals the Wounds It Makes

Pink Sheep of the Family

We all experience pain. My pain doesn't look like your pain. Your pain doesn't look like your sister's or your brother's pain. But it all feels the same. It hurts.

The single lonely person hurts just as much as the divorcee. The person who lost a loved one hurts just as much as the one who lost their pet. It doesn't look the same, but it feels the same.

Pain connects us to one another. It is the common experience to mankind. I am able to have compassion for you regardless of how well I know you, because I know what it is to experience pain. And the reverse is true.

So it is from a heart of compassion that I tell you, the pain you are feeling is temporary. Things change, and so must we. The sorrow you feel now is real and overwhelming, but don't let it control you.

Nothing in this world is permanent. That includes the pain you feel.

I am including a song by the late musician Eva Cassidy called Time Is A Healer. There are no professional music videos of her. She died of cancer in 1996 before her big break-out album was released world wide.

Here are the words to the chorus I wanted to share with you.

"If time is a healer,
Then all hearts that break
will be put back together again.
Because love heals the wounds it makes."
