Did you catch this interview last week? My partner emailed the link and said I had to write about it!
This is the scariest, freakiest, creepiest, saddest [choose one] video I have ever seen!
Last week the BBC aired a documentary called My Fake Baby about a culture of 40 and 50-somethings who play with dolls. And not just any dolls, these are extremely life-like dolls called "Reborns."
These aren't Cabbage Patch knock-offs from the dollar store. These babies cost at least $1,000 each! The ladies in the documentary care and nurture and talk to their baby dolls just like you would a real baby. The high-end dolls have heart beats and little veins and can cost 4 grand!
Matt Lauer from NBC's Today Show interviewed some American nutcases ladies who own their own Reborns. One crazy chick tells Matt, "They fill a void in your heart."
Mister Lauer is obviously freaked out through the entire interview.
Why don't these ladies get a dog or cat? I talk to my fur-babies like they are children, and no one thinks I'm crazy. Well, maybe they think I'm crazy, but it's an adorably eccentric kind of crazy, not padded cell and straight jacket kind of crazy.
