It was Rock-n-Roll night on American Idol this week.
The big news this week was Paula was stone cold sober, and Jason Castro was just stoned.
It's down to Man-David, Boy-David, Stoner-Jason, and FEMA-Syesha. The Final Four!
Sister Seacrest opened the show with "Three of the four finalists have been in the number one slot." What he didn't say was, "The one in the minority is really a minority."
Poor Syesha. She's the only chick left, the only black person left, and the only one that Ryan doesn't grope during the judges' comments.
But good for her this week. She looked and sounded like a true diva during Change is Gonna Come.
Man-David was as hot as ever.
But I do have one complaint. What is the deal with his facial hair? It's like his beard has a goatee. Either you have stubble or a goatee. Choose one and commit to it. The hybrid isn't working for me.
Boy-David sang perfectly but didn't give me goose-bumps. Don't get me wrong. It was beautiful. Just no chills.
Side note: Taylor Hicks gave his endorsement to Little David Archuleta in a press statement this week. Mister Hicks called Boy-David, "The next Wayne Newton."
Is that a compliment? Seriously. I don't know. That's like Paris Hilton endorsing John McCain for president and referring to him as "The next Grover Cleveland." Whuuuh?
All I know is Papa Archuleta no doubt locked him in the closet after the show for closing his eyes as he sang Love Me Tender.
Which brings us back to Stoner-Jason.
He was so out of it that he forgot the words to Mister Tambourine Man.
Simon was furious and looked at him like, "How dare you come on the show more wasted that Paula."
It was total chaos. A steaming hot mess. Like Britney Spears when she hit head-shaven rock-bottom.
I predict he goes home.
(However, even though I'm the same the size as the average 12-year-old girl, I don't think like one. He may catapult to the lead due to the tween vote. But I hope not.) It's time for him to go.
Finally, here's David Archuleta's rendition of Love Me Tender. In my opinion, the best performance of the night.
