This was such a fun season of American Idol that I can't even tell you! I'm a little sad to have to say good-bye.
I completely agree with America's choice of the finalists. I've liked Man-David and Boy-David since their debuts on the show.
That being said, however... this week's show fueled my conspiracy theory that Simon, Paula, and Randy are told what to say before the show begins. Or in the very least they are told who to insult and who to compliment. I'm sure the exact words are up to them. Randy is free to use as many pitchy's and dawg's as he desires.
They were all like, "Round one goes to Archuleta. Round two goes to Archuleta. Round three goes to Archuleta." Am I being too cynical? That had to be planned because in all actuality, round one and two went to Man-David. I do agree however that Boy-David totally owned the final song, Imagine.
So who's my pick for the winner? Let's put it like this. I would actually buy a David Cook cd. But we all know that 11 to 17-year-old girls make all the decisions in our nation. And I believe that's why the producers steered the comments in Archie's direction.
I voted once for Man-David, and then got a second cup of decaf. But all the Jessicas, Amys, Ambers continued voting for Boy-David until mom and dad told them it was time to go to bed.
So bottom line: Cook deserves to win, but I predict Archuleta will take the title.
Here's my pick for my favorite pick of the season. It's David Cook from Mariah Carey week: Man-David's awesome rendition of Mimi's Always Be My Baby.
Hearing him sing it, you realize the lyrics are very dark and angst-filled. He took the sugariest song in the history of pop, and made it a rock ballad.
Kudos to you Mister Cook. Regardless of the finale results. May you have a long and prosperous career.

I agree. Randy didn't even seem to listen. Everything Archuleta did was great, awesome, the bomb. I thought both contestants had "pitchy" moments...Neither was at their best last night.
That being said, I voted for Cook 20 or so times. I do what I can for mankind.

I think D.C.'s best song was Billie Jean. It was the best of the season! But I hear he took it from someone else. He didn't come up with the arrangement by himself.
(But the Mimi song was good too.)
Team Cook!

I don't quite agree with you. I really wanted Cooke to win, and I agree that the judges seemed to be very pro-archie. Where I disagree is that the first song was probably a tie. They both did a good job. The second was a wash because both songs sucked, but I give it to Archie because he sang it better and the last song sang clearly went to Archie. I have to give props to Cooke for trying that last song, but it wasn't a song that needed to be "cookeized". He should have sang it the way it was done originally. The world I know is all about the build up in that song. Starting out soft and building to a climax. Cooke didn't do that.
I knew based on this year that if Man and boy were in the finals that Man would have to bring 3 Billie Jeans back to back and boy would have to flop on all three songs while giving the middle finger to his fans. Archie just has a HUGE tiny bopper fan base. Honestly, I wanted Cooke to win, but in the long run this will be better for his career. He will be huge, while Archie will put out one album, it will go platinum and we'll never hear from him again like the majority of Idol winners. Oh well. This was a great year though.
My favorite Cook songs...
1) Billie Jean
2) Always Be My Baby
3) All I Really Need is You
4) Eleanor Rigby
5) The Music of The Night
I can go on & on...but I'll stop here..LOL!
